Patient Survey Results 2024

We’d like to thank all 873 patients who completed the Oundle Patient Survey in March this year and the 122 people who completed the national GP survey in January. After carefully analysing the results, we are taking the following actions to address issues raised:

  • We have introduced two new partners since February this year, this will help us improve access
  • We have recently recruited a new Advanced Nurse Practitioner who will be able to see patients with on the day acute illnesses, this will also help free up the GPs for more complex patients requiring continuity of care
  • We are reviewing our appointment system to enable advanced booking and patient choice on face to face or telephone appointments. We continue to offer enhanced access pre bookable appointments up to two weeks in advance.
  • We have recruited into our admin team to improve and review our Long Term Conditions process which will be starting imminently.

The Oundle survey in March, showed improvements in all areas, when compared to the previous year, including in the number of patients who took part.

There was an 11% increase in those finding it easy to contact us while telephone waiting times have improved, with half of all calls answered in under 20 minutes. There was a 3% increase to 63% of patients being offered appointments compared to the previous year and the number receiving face to face appointments rose 27% to 62% of respondents.

Patients in 2024 were more satisfied with the advice given, were able to access our practice and were satisfied with the service received. There was a 28-point rise in those who were happy with our staff and a 26-point rise in those who were happy with their appointment overall.

Both surveys highlighted general areas of concern around accessibility, continuity of care with the same professional and service delivery. After careful consideration of all the data submitted, we are confident that our actions taken in response should lead to further improvements.

Dr Laura Brennan, Lead GP at Oundle Surgery, said ‘We really appreciate the time and effort that patients went to when completing the surveys. Members of our clinical and management team read the individual comments, we would like to thank patients for their openness. The fact that so many took part compared to last year, when we had just 167 responses, gave us a great deal of data to build on which will serve as a baseline when gauging the impact of our planned changes. We recognise that we still have issues to improve on and are fully committed to implementing further changes where possible.’
